I am asked all the time by riders world wide, “How do you make the bike bounce like that?” Trust me when I tell you that it takes a while and there’s no shortage of practice needed in bouncing the front, rear and the whole bike. It really helps to do the bounce test when the suspension is hot. Very cold oil can give you a really false read. Hot oil will also let you push the bike further through its stroke allowing you to get a much more accurate read on rebound settings. It will also assist you to take all the high and low speed compression (see what you have) out of the forks BUT know where all your settings are before you do that.
Older bikes in general have much softer spring rates so the bike will bounce far more easily. So if you want to acquire the technique start with an older bike and watch the OnTheThrottle video link below:
