On track coaching

“Knowledge creates understanding, understanding creates relaxation, relaxation creates speed.”

For over a decade Dave has been coaching riders of all levels at track days, schools and race events on the track and in the classroom.

His experience is diverse, his knowledge extraordinary and his communication skills unique and unrivaled. His teaching takes him all over the globe with a world wide fan base.

What do you want to achieve in 2013?

- Get better reference points, better braking, more consistent lines, better management of weight transfer, more economical body position and ease of moving around the bike, trail braking skills, getting neutral throttle on earlier, transitioning the bike more smoothly, initiating turns better? Dave can help you!

In 2011 and 2012 Dave won the AFM 450 Superbike titles back to back and won the 2012 Thunderhill cup for the 450 Superbike class on his G-Force VFR 428 Honda NC-30. Both titles were achieved with discipline and focus given he has no time to practice on the bike – he’s too busy working with fellow AFM-ers and making them faster on Friday and Saturday. So, he throws a leg over it on Sunday morning and takes it to the competition!

REMEMBER: Dave is available for a half day of coaching ONLY. Coaching includes pre-planned sessions, track walks, corner analysis, video with live on track commentary of your riding, and post session debrief watching the video/audio to determine the next sessions goals.

  • Hourly rate is $100
  • Half day is $300 plus 50% of the track day fee charged to him
  • $100 deposit due 7 days in advance to reserve your spot, which is not refundable.

Coaching means staying close to your student so that every moment of video is worthwhile especially in those areas of the track where timing is critical as is smoothness of skills and weight transfer!

Don Marino

Hi Dave – the video from Sonoma on August 13 was excellent!  Narrating each session while riding makes it a great reference that will be helpful each time I return to Sonoma.   I would like to get on your schedule at Thunderhill on September 29th!

Gary Schneider:

I attended a Keigwin’s school in April and was the fortunate recipient of a half day of coaching with Dave. I took advantage of that half day in May. I have felt my skills plateau and have been a bit frustrated. I had set a goal for myself to be a solid B+ rider this year. The time spent with Dave was, what I believe, is the start of my break through.  He was able to identify problems and I was able to make virtually real time corrections. The difference in my performance from session 1 to session 3 was amazing. My hope is to eventually get my AFM license. There is no question in my mind that I will be spending more time with Dave in an effort to reach that goal. I HIGHLY recommend Dave’s coaching services to anyone who wishes to make improvements in their riding skills (at all levels). Take advantage of his video with audio commentary… I watch my replays at least once a week and make notes on my THill track map. I can’t wait to get back out there.

Thanks again Dave!

Kristoffer Maglunob:

“1 on 1 coaching with Dave for even just half a day was a priceless investment. If you just started doing track days and want to drastically improve; then you can greatly benefit. Dave is patient, understanding and tailors his coaching to your goals. The best part is the video and commentary of each session- it just exposes everything that you need to work on. I’m looking forward to working with Dave again in the near future. If you’d like to view the video please follow the link”…http://youtu.be/ZtR6hDcoyOI

I spent years getting coached in swimming and waterpolo by fantastic individuals–Olympians, national champions and world-record holders.  Coaching is not just knowledge, it is communication: translating movement into words.  I’m impressed with how much I learned from you in just a half day at Thunderhill last Monday.  I’m excited about working together through this AFM season.

Had a killer time working with you at Button Willow focusing on relaxing and counter steering not pulling and pushing to wear out my hands!!!! Thank you for all your help! Now I just need to work on consistency because a few fast laps dont win races!
